Women in our Churches are fully involved in all aspects of church life. Some enjoy greeting people as they attend services, some sing in the choir, some take part in the service reading lessons and leading the intercessions, some arrange the flowers for the services, some serve on the PCC, one or two teach and preach. Most of these activities we share with the men of our church.

Women have had traditional roles of supporters and comforters and as such today, they are the pastoral assistants to the ministry team. They give support to those who are ill and recovering from hospital treatment. They respond to people who are suffering bereavement and to those finding life’s problems hard to deal with.  They offer friendship to those who feel lonely.

There is a monthly lunch at the Essex Rose Tearooms in Dedham, usually the first Monday of the month. Non churchgoers are welcome to attend. This is a warm and friendly event and gives us all a chance to get to know people better. Mostly the older generation attend but all are welcome.

They raise funds for the Beacon House homeless centre in Colchester and missionary work in Africa and Uganda. There is a monthly cake stall at the Church where homemade cakes, homemade jams and bric-a-brac are sold. Volunteers provide excellent cakes and jams and help sell the produce.

They provide the refreshments after the services in church and at other meetings and events.

If you are interested in being involved in any of these activities please contact the parish office.
